WorldBeat Center Opens a New Cultural Center in Ensenada, Mexico in March 2010
Culture Beat Center was created with the goal of preserving the Indigenous and African Cultural Heritage of the Mexican people through artistic expression. Since its opening, many international artists have performed at the center; such as Midnite, Sene Africa, Quinto Sol, and the legendary Skatalites the Originators of Ska. The center also provides a space for local bands to perform their music, as well as a space for local art, dance and music teachers to share their knowledge through classes. As a tribute to Culture Beat Center’s goal, the murals and paintings inside the center were inspired by cultures like the Maya, Aztec, Toltec and Olmec; there are many abstract ornamental designs that depict gods like the feathered serpent, mythical animals, demons, birds and plants. Culture Beat Center is open for anyone who is looking to experience and learn about the beautiful cultural elements that make the people of the world. Join us for our next event Middle Eastern Night coming up in July!
George Washington Carver Ethnobotany Garden
World's First MycoDome at the World Beat Center in Balboa Park! This will be an mushroom education pod, demonstrating development tactics for localized infrastructure, with the purpose of sustaining "Living Industries." The dome will consist of a laboratory, and a mushroom production facility. We will be growing mushrooms for restoration of land and water, long term food production, and mushroom supplement powders. We will host workshops teaching children and adults how to grow in their own backyards. WorldBeat Center's George Washington Carver Ethnobotany Garden will demonstrate the efficiency of utilizing mycorrhizal fungi in gardens to double the yields! Also teaching the use of mushrooms for land and water purification, rebalancing of minerals in soil, and retainment of moisture and nutrients for the roots of the ecosystem! With this knowledge a consumer based society can alleviate the pangs of economic disparity, by inspiring these "Living Industries," also creating abundance from our waste streams. Join us this summer for this new project, as we blend science, permaculture, and education to pave the way for success in this new generation!

Marcus Garvey Day Featuring Twinkle Brothers
Saturday, August 14th at 8PM
Join us to celebrate in live concert with the Twinkle Brothers, the life of MARCUS GARVEY, "Back-to-Africa" leader, was the most widely known of all the agitators for the rights of the African American and one of the most phenomenal. Arriving in the United States poor and unknown, within four years he became the most talked-of African American man in the United States and the West Indies, and perhaps in the world. He was born in Jamaica, West Indies, of very humble parents. His addresses on the race problem aroused the Negroes until by many he came to be regarded as another Moses. His aims were to establish a co-fraternity among Negroes the world over; to promote a spirit of love and pride; to assist in civilizing backward Africans; to establish schools and scholarships; and to found a strong Negro nation. Above all, he aroused millions of Negroes and whites in many lands to think of the "race" problem as they had never done before.
