Blessings for this new year!

WorldBeat Center has had many shows, presentations and events in 2009 and it's thanks to you for being a part of conscious events that uplift the community.
New Years eve was ushered in by WorldBeat Center with a very high conscious event. It was a blue moon and collectively with dance, drumming and music we were able to unify all cultures. Creating unity through diversity, which is our mission. Everyone that went to that Alternative New Year's Eve gathering, are still feeling the positive effects.
We jumped into 2010 with the celebration of the King of Civil Rights, Dr. Martin Luther King Day. Even in the rain, people turned out to celebrate and be apart of the "Dream". This MLK Day was the best year ever! The Ugandan Children's Choir and our Capoeira group stole the show! Later on in the evening, we were blessed with performances by Pato Banton and Chuck Fenda. Special thanks to all the other performers that contributed to this incredibly successful event!
I usually write this letter earlier asking for donations for the WorldBeat Cultural Center. As you know most Non-Profit Organizations are feeling the financial crunch. The WorldBeat Center continues to give you and your family, wholesome and free events. So instead of asking for these donations to come to WorldBeat Center I am asking for your support with the crisis in Haiti.
We must remember everything in the universe is interconnected. To give to one another is actually the highest gift we can give to ourselves. Whenever we give, it opens our heart of compassion and that energy returns to us.
We are working with 3 organizations to host a benefit on Sat, January 30th. 100% of all proceeds will be donated to these organizations. Yele Foundation, Haitian Support Project and Wish for Haiti foundation. There will be people representing these foundation present at our benefit.
There have been alot of great people that have sacrificed for us like Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Peace Pilgrim, Ghandi, Patrice Lumumba, Harriet Tubman and Toussaint Louverture of Haiti.
It is very important that all of us across the globe dedicate our lives to helping one another. Haiti was a national disaster before it was claimed to be. So also was New Orleans. Let us continue to help fight poverty and injustice throughout the planet earth.
With compassion and discipline we will be able to change the negative into positive.
Pay it Forward...
