May Day for Mumia

As we all know, tomorrow is International Workers Day. There will be a march and rally for immigrants rights here in San Diego. Those who wish to participate meet in front of City College on Park Blvd at 2:30 pm for rally. From there marching down Broadway to Pantoja Park, State St. and G Street.

In the evening, the WorldBeat Center presents May Day for Mumia! A concert dedicated to Mumia Abu-Jamal, including video, poetry, and bands uniting to free Mumia. Among the bands will be veteran reggae artist Wadi Gad and Jahbandis & Love and Groove.

The most popular prisoner in the world, Mumia Abu-Jamal, has released a book, Jailhouse Lawyers, which will be celebrated on Friday, April 24th, from 4 to 5pm at the Malcolm X Library, 5148 Market St. at Euclid, titled "More Than A Book Party," on his 55th birthday.

Since the U.S. Supreme court has ruled to uphold Mumia's conviction, people are gathering on this day to demonstrate support.
